Eberechi Eze's gesture after Arsenal's win over Nottingham Forest sums him up

Eberechi Eze promised his shirt and jacket to young Arsenal supporters in the stands following his full debut at the Emirates Stadium in Saturday's win over Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old joined the Gunners in a £67.5m switch from Crystal Palace after the season started, meaning he has been forced to wait patiently to properly be thrown into the action by Mikel Arteta.

Eze had entered the field as a substitute against title rivals Liverpool - before September's international break - but was able to play a greater role when Forest headed to north London as the Premier League resumed this weekend.

A full home debut brought with it a first assist playing for Arsenal as Eze provided for fellow summer signing Viktor Gyokeres. What separates the England star from the rest of Mikel Arteta's summer recruits was that his move was a homecoming - a return to the club who released him at academy level.

That was visible when he was unveiled at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the previous fixture there against Leeds United, and again on Saturday after the 3-0 win over Forest.

At the end of TNT Sports' interview with Eze and Noni Madueke, the camera showed a child in the stands holding up a homemade sign which read: "Eze welcome home. Please can I have ur shirt? It all did work out!"

"Ey, I got you. I got you don't worry, I'll come up there afterwards," Eze responded.

"You've been waiting, no problem."

There was no hesitation from the England player, who went to give his shirt away without any questions asked. Then speaking to club media about making his home debut, Eze explained: "Special, man. Today was a good day, man. We had fun out there and enjoyed it.

"More important was getting the win and helping the team. That's it, man.

"It was good [to get an assist], that's what I always want to do - to affect the game and help my team to win with goals and assists."

As he was talking during his interview, another young fan from the stands shouted: "Eze, can I have your jumper?" Again, without hesitation he said yes.

Eze continued: "[The supporters' support is] special, man. It's powerful.

"Something that we want to do, it's something that I appreciate massively, man. Every time I'm here, I'm going to enjoy myself."
