JEE Main 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made an important announcement regarding JEE Main 2026, the largest engineering entrance exam. Many students were wondering whether on-screen calculators would be allowed during the exam. Now, the agency has clarified that no calculators will be allowed in the JEE Main exam.
JEE Main 2026: The NTA stated that a previously released Information Bulletin mistakenly stated that an on-screen standard calculator would be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT). However, this line was only part of the system's common platform and did not apply to the JEE Main exam. This was a typo, which has now been corrected.
The agency has asked students to re-download the revised Information Bulletin from the NTA's official website. The NTA also apologized for the inconvenience caused by this error.
The JEE Main 2026 exam will be held in two sessions.
According to the NTA, the JEE Main 2026 exam will be conducted in two sessions. The first session will be held between January 21 and 30, 2026, and the second session will be held between April 1 and 10, 2026. This exam provides admission to top engineering colleges across the country, including institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs.
Students Confused
Many students had raised questions on social media about whether calculators would be available in JEE Main 2026, as the bulletin mentioned it. Now, the NTA has clarified that students can only use pens, pencils, and scratch paper during the exam; no calculators or electronic gadgets are permitted.
This decision is also necessary to maintain transparency in the exam and provide equal opportunities to every student. NTA said that JEE Main is a computer-based test in which questions are prepared in such a way that students can solve them using basic maths skills and logical reasoning.
