JNUSU Election 2025: The atmosphere of student politics is once again heating up at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). After a long campaign and debates, the election battle has now been decided. The campaign ended early Monday, and voting will take place on Tuesday. This time, the contest is expected to be intense between left-wing student organizations and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
JNUSU Election 2025: The presidential debate held on Monday for the student union elections at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) imbued the campus with an election-like atmosphere. The Students' Activity Center was packed, where six candidates presented their views. These included representatives from the left-wing alliance, AISA, SFI, and DSF.
The debate marked the beginning of the 'no campaigning' period ahead of the JNUSU election 2025. In such a situation, no campaigning is possible now. Candidates from ABVP, NSUI, PSA, Disha Students' Organization, and an independent panel also spoke.
JNUSU Election 2025: Voting to be Held in Two Sessions
Voting in the JNU Students' Union elections will be held in two phases on November 4th. The first session will run from 9 am to 1 pm, and the second from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. After the voting is over, counting will begin at 9 pm. All eyes are on November 6th, when the final results will be declared.
Voting Under Tight Security
Like every year, the contest is primarily between left-wing student organizations (AISA, SFI, DSF) and the ABVP. The left-wing group is seeking votes on issues such as student rights, fee hikes, and democratic freedoms. Meanwhile, the ABVP has made "protests and nationalism" its main election plank. The ABVP's campaigning has been quite aggressive, with its impact visible from social media to campus walls.
The JNU administration has made full preparations for the voting. Adequate security personnel have been deployed throughout the campus to ensure security. Students are also showing considerable enthusiasm, as JNU's student union elections are considered a model for universities across the country.
