A private bus caught fire on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway in Nalgonda district of Telangana in the small hours of Tuesday, police said.
However, none of the 29 passengers were injured in the incident that occurred in Chityal mandal at around 1.45 AM when the bus was proceeding to Kandukur in Andhra Pradesh from Hyderabad.
The bus driver noticed smoke emanating from the engine, stopped the vehicle immediately and asked the passengers to alight. Moments after they got down the bus was engulfed in flames, Nalgonda District Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar, told PTI.
A police team reached the spot and two fire tenders doused the flames, the SP said.
The exact cause of the fire is being investigated, police said.
