Love stories often blossom in the most unexpected ways, and the romance between Bollywood actress Geeta Basra and cricketer Harbhajan Singh is no exception. Their journey from strangers to life partners was quietly nurtured with a little help from one of India’s most famous cricketers and a close friend, Yuvraj Singh. It all started when Harbhajan’s eyes caught sight of Geeta’s movie poster during her early acting days. With Yuvraj’s help, a connection was made, leading to a love that survived distance, hesitation, and time.

How Yuvraj Singh helped in Geeta Basra and Harbhajan's love story?

Geeta Basra entered Bollywood at the young age of 21, debuting opposite Emraan Hashmi in the romantic thriller Dil Diya Hai (2006). The following year, she worked again with Hashmi in the crime thriller The Train. Around this period, her life would take a turn when Harbhajan Singh noticed her poster and was instantly smitten. It was what Geeta later described on Bharti TV as “love at first sight” for the cricketer.

However, the spark needed a little push. Harbhajan, unsure of how to reach her, turned to his close friend and teammate Yuvraj Singh. Geeta further revealed, "He asked Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) for my number. Obviously, Yuvi has a lot of filmy friends."

Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, has often been linked to Bollywood due to his past relationships and friendships with several actresses. He was reportedly in a long-term relationship with Kim Sharma, which ended in 2007. Around that time, there were also several rumours of him dating Deepika Padukone, though neither of them ever confirmed it. His name was also linked with actresses like Riya Sen and Preity Zinta, but those were mostly speculative.

However, in 2016, Yuvraj tied the knot with Hazel Keech, an actress and model of British-Mauritian origin. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Orion, on January 25, 2022. Their family grew again with the birth of their daughter, Aura, on August 25, 2023.

About Harbhajan and Yuvraj Singh's friendship

Moreover, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh have always shared a close friendship since the early days of their cricket careers. Both began playing around the same time and represented Punjab in domestic cricket. Harbhajan made his international debut in 1998, while Yuvraj followed in 2000. The duo shared many memorable victories for India, including the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. They became iconic teammates under captains Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni. Their camaraderie extended beyond the field, making Yuvraj a trusted confidant for Harbhajan

For the unversed, Yuvraj retired from international cricket in 2019, while Harbhajan continued to be involved in the sport, both as a player and later in commentary, before officially announcing his retirement in 2021. Despite their professional journeys moving in different directions, the two remain close friends and frequently share lighthearted moments on social media.
