Prabhas' Spirit gets major update: What's happened after Triptii Dimri took up Deepika Padukone's role

Send Push
Prabhas is all set to team up with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for their first collaboration, Spirit, which is expected to be one of the actor’s most ambitious projects to date. The pan-India film has been generating buzz ever since its announcement, especially among fans eager to see the Baahubali star in a new avatar. At a recent event in the United States, the director’s brother, Pranay Reddy Vanga, revealed that the film will officially begin shooting in September 2025.

This cop drama is said to demand significant physical and stylistic transformation from Prabhas. Reports indicate that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has requested the actor to allocate a long, uninterrupted schedule for the film. The reason: the character’s look and emotional depth require consistency throughout the shoot, making it difficult for the actor to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.

To accommodate this, Prabhas is expected to finish his current film commitments before dedicating himself fully to Spirit. The team plans to shoot the film in one continuous schedule to preserve the narrative's momentum.

Casting Change: Triptii Dimri Joins Replaces Deepika Padukone
The film made headlines earlier this year when Deepika Padukone, who was initially cast opposite Prabhas, exited the project. Although the makers didn’t officially comment, industry chatter suggested that her withdrawal was due to unmet scheduling and contractual conditions. The sudden exit of such a high-profile star created considerable stir.

Soon after, Triptii Dimri was confirmed as the new lead. Triptii, who recently worked with Vanga on Animal, was welcomed onboard with enthusiasm. Many within the industry praised her casting, highlighting her growing credibility as a performer and her strong screen presence. Her inclusion added a fresh dynamic to the project and further raised audience expectations.

Spirit Plot Details Under Wraps
While the story remains undisclosed, Spirit is expected to carry Vanga’s signature blend of intense drama and gritty action, with a tone that resonates beyond domestic audiences. After the success of Animal, known for its layered emotional storytelling, many anticipate that Spirit will further push boundaries. For Prabhas, this film is seen as an opportunity to showcase a more emotionally nuanced side, breaking away from his action-heavy image.

Prabhas' Upcoming Films Before Spirit Begins
Before stepping into Spirit, Prabhas will wrap up work on two other major films. He is currently filming The Raja Saab, a romantic horror comedy directed by Maruthi, slated for a December 2025 release. This project presents the actor in a more playful and lighthearted role, offering a contrast to his recent intense performances. In addition, he is working on Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, a patriotic drama that is still under wraps in terms of storyline and release schedule.
