A 14-year-old boy, son of a television actor known for her work in Gujarati and Hindi serials, died by suicide on Wednesday evening in Mumbai’s Kandivali area. The teenager reportedly jumped from a high floor of the residential complex where the family lived. PTI has reported that according to police officials, the tragic incident followed a disagreement between the boy and his mother over attending a tuition class.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at Sea Brook building, a high-rise residential tower in Kandivali West. Initial police reports indicate that the Class 9 student had been asked by his mother to go for tuition. However, he was reluctant, and an argument reportedly followed. Shortly afterward, the boy left the apartment, went down a few floors, and then jumped.
No Foul Play Suspected, Investigation Continues
As per PTI, police officials from Kandivali police station confirmed that an accidental death report has been filed. No signs of foul play have been found so far. Investigators stated that a resident of the building noticed the incident and alerted the boy’s mother immediately. A police team later arrived on the scene to conduct the panchnama and initiate further inquiry.
Authorities are currently trying to determine the exact floor from which the boy jumped. While some sources reportedly suggest it may have been the 57th floor, others indicate it could have been slightly lower. The family lived on the 51st floor of the building.
Probing the Circumstances
Reports suggest that according to officials, the boy was the only child of the actor, who has been living separately from her husband following a divorce. As part of the investigation, police are expected to gather statements from the boy’s schoolmates and tuition classmates to understand his emotional state in recent days.
Officers have also indicated they will look into possible reasons behind the boy's resistance to attend tuition classes. The intent is to assess whether academic pressure or other personal concerns contributed to his decision.
