In such a situation, Dahi Handi will be celebrated on Saturday, 16 August 2025. This festival is organized especially on the ninth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. From the Dwapar Yuga till today, this festival is celebrated with great pomp.

How did this tradition start?

According to mythological beliefs, when Shri Krishna was young, he used to go with his friends to steal butter from the nearby houses. Troubled by this mischief, the gopis of the village started hanging the butter pots at a high place. But Shri Krishna and his friends formed a human pyramid and started stealing those pots as well. This leela is celebrated today in the form of Dahi Handi.

There are competitions between the groups of Govindas in the streets here, and an attempt is made to break the highest pot.
