Ekadashi fast has special importance in Sanatan Dharma. Every month 2 Ekadashi fasts are kept. Ekadashi fast of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh month has been mentioned in the scriptures. It is known as Varuthini Ekadashi. Religious belief is that the Ekadashi fast is kept to get the blessings of Lord Vishnu.

Astrologer Pandit Sanjay Upadhyay of Kashi said that it is described in the scriptures that by keeping the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi, a person gets the fruit equivalent to 10 thousand years of penance. Therefore, the followers of Sanatan Dharma keep this fast with full devotion. King Mandhata also kept this fast, due to the effect of which he got Baikuntha.

When is Varuthini Ekadashi?
According to the Hindu Vedic calendar, this time the Ekadashi date of Vaishakh Krishna Paksha starts at 4:54 pm on 23 April, which will end the next day i.e. on 24 April at 3:01 pm. In such a situation, according to the Udayatithi, the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi will be kept on 24 April only.

Take a resolution like this.
On this day, after taking a bath in the morning, one should meditate on Lord Vishnu and take a resolution to fast. Then one should keep the fast for the whole day and break the fast the next day. During this time, only fruits should be consumed.
