Mumbai: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman after she was run over by a BEST bus on April 12. The incident occurred around 7:30 am in front of St. Michael's Church on Swami Vivekanand Road.
According to preliminary information, the woman was sitting on the roadside when a speeding BEST bus (MH 01 AP 0543), coming from the Mori Road direction, ran over her. Eyewitnesses stated that the driver was operating the vehicle recklessly and at high speed, resulting in severe head injuries to the victim.
Upon receiving the alert, Mahim Police Station's Police Sub-Inspector Premanand Dhondu Tikam and his team immediately reached the spot. The injured woman was rushed to Sion Hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared her dead at 8:35 am.
Following the incident, Mahim Police registered a case against the bus driver, identified as Firoz Gaffar Patel (46), for negligent driving resulting in death. Police have issued a notice to the driver and are conducting a thorough investigation into all aspects of the accident.
