At the time of admission, the doctor was not physically present at the hospital. Instead, she gave instructions to a nurse over a WhatsApp video call. Based on those instructions, the nurse administered injections and treatment to the pregnant woman.
Sadly, the treatment failed and both twin boys died in the womb. The hospital management demanded ₹30,000 from the grieving family for the treatment, despite the outcome.
Shocked and furious by the payment demand, the family members and other relatives protested in front of the hospital. They accused the staff of negligence and questioned how they could ask for money after such a devastating loss.
The family said that they had already spent nearly ₹15 lakhs on fertility treatments over the years. They were overjoyed when they learned they were expecting twins, only to face unbearable grief due to what they called the doctor’s carelessness.
Following the protest, District Medical Officer Dr. Venkateswara Rao visited the hospital and reviewed the incident. He ordered an investigation into the matter and said that the hospital will be sealed till the investigation is completed. There are also reports that the woman has been moved to another private hospital and she is in stable condition now.
