Bennifer 3.0 would be quite the tale - giving the on-off love story of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton a run for its money.

Good Will Hunting star Ben met singer Jen in 2002 on the set of their movie, Gigli. J-Lo was married to second husband Cris Judd at the time but said she felt sparks immediately with Ben. "I really felt when I met Ben, 'OK, this is it’,” she told at the time.

The ultimate showbiz pair, they were inseparable. Ben even featured in J-Lo’s video for Jenny From The Block in that infamous yacht scene. They soon got engaged but postponed their wedding in 2003 and split the following year.

Both moved on, with Ben marrying another Jen, 13 Going On 30 actress Jennifer Garner. They have children Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Sam, 13. His long-standing alcohol addiction put their relationship under huge strain and the couple went their separate ways in 2015 after he was accused of an affair with a nanny, which he denied.

In the meantime, J-Lo walked down the aisle with singer Marc Anthony. They had twins Max and Emma, now 17. They divorced in 2014, three years after separating.

Showbiz fans rejoiced when Bennifer reunited in 2021 in the ultimate Hollywood love story. "It was so painful after we broke up (the first time),” said J-Lo at the time.

"Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life. I honestly felt like I was going to die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It's the most would-never-happen-in-Hollywood ending."

The couple married at a Las Vegas chapel in July 2022, followed by a second ceremony in Georgia the following month. But it wasn’t all happy in paradise and tensions between the couple were apparent in J-Lo's Amazon Prime documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

In it, she spoke candidly about her love life, whilst Ben looked on awkwardly, calling their private life "sacred". The two looked like they were on completely different pages.

Cracks were also apparent during the 2023 Grammys, where J-Lo was pictured berating her husband whilst he looked bored. It all got too much for the pair, with J-Lo filing for divorce on their second wedding anniversary.

The pair hadn’t been seen for months together before the announcement, with Ben was missing from singer Jen's Bridgerton-inspired 55th birthday party. His purchase of a £16million Los Angeles bachelor pad that same day was said to be a "stab in the heart" for his wife.

Their marriage was unravelling as the pair worked on a musical remake of the 1976 novel Kiss of the Spider Woman together. Despite the turmoil, Jen looked back on the time with a positive outlook.

“Every moment on set, and every moment I was doing this role, I was so happy,” she explained. “And then back home, it was not great.
“But you get through it. Honestly, I have to say, it was the best thing that ever happened to me, because it... helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow, become more self-aware.”

Ben insisted their was “no scandal” behind their divorce. “I have nothing but respect,” he said about his former wife to GQ. “Yeah, there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.”

Since going their separate ways, their families have remained close. Sources close to the former couple say they have fought hard to keep things civil for the sake of their kids.

At Monday’s premiere, the pair spoke of their admiration for each other. “She’s amazing in the movie,” said Ben. Jen said: “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made. And I will always give him that credit.”
