The Summer I Turned Pretty fans 'scared' as showrunner drops final endgame hint

The Summer I Turned Pretty fans have been left 'stressed' after showrunner Jenny Han teased how the hit drama ends. Han authored the beloved trilogy that inspired the Prime Video show and has been instrumental in its adaptation.

Viewers have followed the brutal love triangle between Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) since 2022.

The show's final episode is set to drop on Wednesday (September 17) and fans have been speculating about who the main character ends up with.

While Conrad and Belly get hitched in the books, Han previously explained that the show's finale does not follow the novels closely.

Now, the author has given insight into the forthcoming episode 11 and fans may be disappointed by her words.

In an interview with LA Times, the 45-year-old teased that Conrad and Belly may not reunite in Paris like viewers predict.

"He [Conrad] and Belly aren’t in the same place," she explained, before adding: "She’s [Belly] saying that she’s ready for something new this summer, and he’s something old coming back into her life."

Season three has already seen Belly preparing to marry Jeremiah, only for her groom to call off the wedding. Now, the young adult has started a fresh life in Paris.

The latest episode ended with Belly declaring that she is ready for something new, while Conrad was boarding a flight to France.

His decision came after the pair had reconnected through letters, but Conrad is unaware of Belly's new romance with Parisian Benito.

Therefore, it's unclear how the duo's reunion will pan out. However, as Han teases, it may not be the romantic rendezvous that fans expect.

Following Han's latest hint, 'Team Conrad' viewers have taken to Reddit to express their frustration.

One wrote: "This literally scares. Like I know she is still trying to keep us on our toes but it's stressing me out..."

Another chimed in: "My anxiety is through the roof." While another said: "They cannot break Conrad's heart again, surely. I think she's messing with us."

Elsewhere on social media, fans are convinced 'Bonrad' will find their way back to each other. But they believe the couple will not instantly reconnect after Conrad's unexpected Paris trip.
