Second match referee Richie Richardson sought an explanation from Suryakumar Yadav for statements he made during the post-match presentation and press conference following the victory in the Asia Cup league matches against Pakistan. The PCB filed two complaints with the ICC regarding Suryakumar Yadav. The ICC sent two reports to match referee Richie Richardson in response to the PCB's complaint, following which he sent an email to the Indian team.

Richardson's email read, "I have been sent two reports by the ICC to handle. After reviewing the reports and examining the evidence, I have concluded that Surya's statement has tarnished the image of the game. This constitutes a charge against him."

Will Suryakumar Yadav be banned?
According to ICC rules, this is a Level 1 violation. A player is not banned under this circumstance, but a player can be fined their match fee. The Indian team has reached the final of the Asia Cup. The title match will be played in Dubai on Sunday (September 28). The Pakistan vs. Bangladesh match will determine the team India will face in the final.
