Marcus Rashford showed Manchester United exactly what they're lacking with a stunning brace for Barcelona. The forward was back on UK soil as the Catalan club faced Newcastle in their Champions League opener - and just days after registering his maiden assist for Barcelona, he powered home a header beyond Nick Pope to net his debut goal for the Spanish giants.
Barca won 2-1 and Rashford scored a sensational second 10 minutes later with a fierce strike that left Nick Pope with no chance. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Dion Dublin said after the first goal: "I'm expecting Newcastle to defend that so much better. Jules Kounde goes round the outside and puts it in. He jus swings his left foot and Rashford comes from the edge of the box and glances it past the keeper. The keeper has no chance. It was far too simple."
After the Man Utd loanee's second goal, Michael Brown commented: "Wow! Everybody's been waiting for this young man to show us what he's got. That is just totally unstoppable. It's incredible, Marcus Rashford.
"He just gets a loose ball from Dan Burn, he's on the edge of the box, he's 22 yards out. Oh my word, he hits it with everything. It dips and bends and hits the bottom of the crossbar. What a strike."
Rashford was discarded by Ruben Amorim last winter, and once more during the summer, yet some supporters were quick to admit on Twitter that they'd welcome him back into the United squad.
The striker said post-match: "It's going good. I'm learning a lot. I'm enjoying it and I think it's making me a better player. I'm here to help the team win but also to improve and be the best I can be.
"It's an amazing experience. I've always been a huge admirer of Barcelona. It's amazing football, amazing players and we want to win as much as possible."
