Novak Djokovic reacts to Iga Swiatek's peculiar go-to meal which sparked Wimbledon frenzy

Novak Djokovic has weighed in on the curious combination of flavours Iga Swiatek uses to stay fueled up at Wimbledon. The women's eighth seed drew gasps from the Centre Court crowd when she revealed one of her go-to meals after defeating Danielle Collins on Saturday.

"I ate it as a kid, it's pasta with strawberries," she said. "You should try it, guys! Pasta, strawberries and a little bit of yoghurt. It's just great." Swiatek's admission sparked a lively debate, and she was asked to elaborate on the unusual meal in her post-match press conference.

"Why is it such a big thing? Everybody should eat that," she insisted. "I think in summer kids are eating it a lot. I don't know. It's just a perfect mix of tastes. It is a Polish thing. We have great strawberries in Poland as well."

Swiatek then doubled down and posted a picture of the unusual dish on Instagram, captioned: "Come on guysss, this is [Poland flag] speciality [starry eyed emoji]."

The five-time Grand Slam champion's sweet and savoury guilty pleasure is particularly pertinent at Wimbledon, where strawberries - albeit with cream - are a traditional treat for fans to enjoy. But Djokovic, along with plenty of others, is not convinced that they are best enjoyed in a bowl of pasta.

When asked by Sportklub for his verdict, he said: "Together? That doesn't sound like a good idea."

Whatever Djokovic has been eating, it has worked wonders so far at this year's Championships. He lost a tiebreak in a four-set win over Alexandre Muller in the first round before demolishing British star Dan Evans in round two, and dishing out a similar beating to his Serbian compatriot, Miomir Kecmanovic, in the third round on Saturday.

The sixth seed's standard of opposition will increase again for the round of 16, where world No.11 Alex de Minaur is lying in wait.

De Minaur, like Djokovic, has only lost one set since arriving at the All England Club. And he should be just as fresh as the Serb when they emerge to do battle after making light work of his third-round opponent, August Holmgren.

"Alex has improved his game tremendously in the last couple of years," said Djokovic. "He's playing the tennis of his life. He's definitely knocking on the door of the final stages of Grand Slams. I think it's going to be a great test to see where my game is at against a top player like Alex."
