Meghan Markle has made the decision to return to acting and royal fans had one thing to say. The Duchess of Sussex made headlines on Wednesday evening after it emerged that she had been spotted filming the film Close Personal Friends in Pasadena, LA, playing herself on the set at Amazon MGM Studios.
Meghan is said to be filming alongside Hollywood stars Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid - son of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid - and Brit Henry Golding. According to sources, the duchess has been "swamped with offers" after quitting acting eight years ago to marry into the Royal Family, but felt now was the right time to return to one of the things she loves the most.
Several royal fans were delighted to hear the news and took to social media to express their jubilation.
One user wrote on Instagram: "That's amazing news!"
Another one agreed: "I actually love this for her."
A third one said: "This makes me so happy!!"
A fourth one commented: "Yeah You Go Girl!! You know we're all going to support this film."
A fifth one chimed: "Good on her, she's living her life!"
Another one opined on X: "Love her or hate her, Meghan Markle is great marketing. The whole world is talking about Close Personal Friends."
However, others weren't as excited about the Duchess's new project.
One user said on X: "The coffers must be running bare. She's right back where she started from."
Another one said: "Pretty sure it's a small cameo she's going to brag about for the rest of her life."
A third one commented: "'Swamped with offers' [laughing face emojis] Give me a break!!! Desperation is in the air!!"
The Duchess of Sussex starred as Rachel Zane in seven seasons of the hugely successful Netflix show, which ran from 2011 to 2019.
However, she left in 2018 after marrying Prince Harry and relocating to the United Kingdom.
Meghan's latest offering in Hollywood revolves around two couples -one famous and one not -who meet in Santa Barbara and become fast friends.
The film is directed by Jason Orley, who has also written the script alongside Isaac Aptaker.
The Duchess of Sussex has been contacted for comment.
