Simon Jordan has urged to show manager Daniel Farke the door, despite the team being on the verge of winning the . The club have already sealed a return to the , and a win against 23rd-placed on Saturday would see them crowned champions, narrowly beating , who are level with them on 97 points.
Nevertheless, Farke's position , with speculation suggesting that even securing the title won't be enough to save his job. Reports surfaced earlier this month that the club's leadership is contemplating a change in management during the summer, with Farke's ability to compete in the Premier League being scrutinised - casting uncertainty over his fit for the long term. During Monday's emphatic over , supporters for the German coach, but ex- owner Jordan believes that letting Farke go would be a wise move if the owners doubt his ability to survive in the top tier.
"If the owners think it's the right thing [then Leeds should sack Farke]," Jordan told talkSPORT. "His job was to get Leeds promoted, that's what he was brought in to do.
"He was given the prerequisite tools, he probably has one of the biggest budgets in the division... so with respect, I know it sounds a bit harsh, but he did the job that he was brought in to do.
"Those were the standards he was set, and that was the task he was asked to perform and the job he took. In the same way that the owner thought that Gary O'Neil wasn't the right fit... I'm pretty sure there would have been some dissenting voices... at Bournemouth, but they're not dissenting now, are they?
"The Leeds owners will have the same ideals as the fans which is that we want the best version of the football club, but we want it in the Premier League. When owners make those sorts of decisions, by all means castigate them.
"But if these guys think that the best version of Leeds is not with Daniel Farke, he will depart with a nice paycheck, a big reputation and go again. The Leeds fans have to accept that owners often make decisions because they think it's the right thing to do for the football club."
Farke has previously overseen two Premier League campaigns with . The 2019/20 season ended in relegation, with the club finishing rock bottom.
He guided the Canaries back to the top division by winning the Championship in 2020/21, only to be let go midway through the following season, with Norwich once again struggling at the foot of the table.
It's understood that Leeds are eyeing potential successors including former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, ex-Bayer Leverkusen, PSV and Benfica coach Roger Schmidt, and Davide Ancelotti - son of boss . However, no definitive call has yet been made on Farke's future.
Asked about the situation earlier this week, Farke declined to comment extensively. "Right now, it's not about talks or whatever or thinking about the Premier League or next season," he said to Sky Sports.
"Right now, it's about celebrating this special day [sealing promotion]. It's one of the most important days in the history of this football club.
"I always spoke about why I signed a long term contract here. I wanted, first, to steady the ship, to rebuild the group and reunite the club because there was a big gap between the supporters and the playing squad.
"I wanted to build a new group and create values and the way we want to play and to bring the club back to the Premier League. The next step is to make this club an established Premier League side."
