Wrexham have shown serious ambition ahead of their Championship return by launching a swoop for former Manchester United midfielder, Christian Eriksen. The Red Dragons were unsuccessful in their efforts, but it is a sign of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's burning desire to propel from the National League to the Premier League in four years.
Wrexham made history by completing back-to-back-to-back promotions last season, and they are now preparing for life in the second tier. According to the Daily Mail, they attempted to bolster their midfield ranks by recruiting Eriksen following his Old Trafford exit earlier this summer.
The 33-year-old was said to be impressed by Wrexham's proposal, but his priority is to continue playing at the top level next season.
The report adds that Eriksen has also been approached by clubs in the United States, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Brazil.
His representative, Martin Schoots, has reacted to Wrexham's swoop, hailing the Welsh outfit for appointing Michael Williamson - formerly of Inter Milan, DC United and Miami FC - as CEO in May 2024.
He said: "Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like Michael Williamson there.

"But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition, and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. There are some contacts going on, but it has to suit both sides."
Eriksen joined United on a free transfer as one of Erik ten Hag's first signings in 2022, following a successful return to football at Brentford after his cardiac arrest.
The Denmark international, among the Premier League's top playmakers in his generation, marked his departure by scoring a penalty in front of the Stretford End on the final day of last season.
After the 2-0 victory against Aston Villa, he penned: "A huge thank you to all the fans who have supported me through the last three years as a @manchesterunited player.
