If you've been thinking of upgrading your iPhone but have been waiting for prices to drop, it's your lucky day. Apple rarely discounts its smartphones but thanks to Amazon Prime Day, which is in fact four days long and running between Tuesday July 8 and Friday July 11, the latest iPhone model is being sold for an unbelievably low price.
Right now, the iPhone 16e costs just £494 from Amazon, a huge discount on the phone's £599 RRP. As this is a Prime Day deal, you need to be an Amazon Prime subscriber to access the special price.
Prime Day is four days long, so this price will only last until 11:59pm UK time on Friday July 11, or while stocks last.
Picking up any iPhone for less than £500 is a good deal these days. The iPhone 16e is the newest iPhone Apple has released, coming out back in February, so you're getting a smartphone that's barely five months into its life at this point. The model on sale comes with 128GB storage and is available in black or white.
That means Apple will support it with software updates for at least another five years, and maybe more (Apple does not officially state how long it'll do this, which is annoying, but it has a good track record). The iPhone 16e carries on the familiar notch design of the iPhone with the powerful A18 processor, 6.1-inch OLED screen, single rear camera, the new Action Button, and support for Apple Intelligence, Apple's newest AI software tools.
Unfortunately the iPhone 16e doesn't have MagSafe, Apple's useful magnetic accessory and wireless charging system, but you can wirelessly charge the phone.
Express.co.uk's technology editor Dave Snelling gave the iPhone 16e four out of five stars when he reviewed it at launch, saying it has "bucketloads of features without paying the usual high price" - a price which is, of course, currently even lower.
It's worth noting the iPhone 16e was already on sale below its RRP for £549 in the days leading up to Prime Day, but the further discount to £494 is a very good one. Apple never discounts its iPhones when buying directly from Apple, so sale prices like this rely purely on third-party retailers such as Amazon.
