If you're tired of having a giant smartphone squeeze into your pocket, then the latest Galaxy device from may well have caught your eye. It's called the S25 Edge and comes with a wafer-thin design that makes its and rivals look like they need to go on a serious diet.
Despite its skinny appearance - which measures in at just 5.8mm thick - Samsung has crammed the S25 Edge full of top-notch features including a fast Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, huge 6.7-screen, decent dual-lens camera and fast wireless charging.
It also gets full access to Galaxy AI, which can edit images, keep you updated throughout the day and rewrite your emails automatically.
As you can read in our full , this is a top-rated device, but it does have one huge compromise.
To help fit inside such a sleek design, Samsung has been forced to reduce the overall battery size. As a quick guide, the S25 Ultra gets a 5000mAh power pack whilst the Edge only features a much smaller 3900mAh battery.
That big reduction could mean you might not get through a day without needing a quick refill, and don't just take our word for it.
To prove what a difference it makes, one top UK tech guru has put a bunch of devices - including the Edge - through an extensive power test to see who comes out on top.
Tom - AKA The Tech Chap - has just posted a video on his which shows how 10 of the most popular smartphones cope during a battery drain test.
With all the devices filled to 100 percent, and with screen brightness set to identical levels, Tom then continually ran numerous applications, including watching video services, launching the camera and using social media platforms
The first device to flinch was the Galaxy S25 Edge, with this latest call maker running out of juice after 7 hours and 57 seconds.
Almost an hour later, Google's Pixel 9 Pro XL shut down with this Android phone followed by the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra's screen stayed glowing for over nine hours, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max finally died at nine hours and 33 minutes.
So, which phone came out on top?
According to Tom's testing, the winner for battery life is the Vivo X200 Pro, which kept on going for over 13 hours. That might not come as a surprise considering this device packs a massive 6000mAh power pack under its shell. The OnePlus 13 also performed well, with this phone staying powered up for over 10 hours.
"In last place was the S25 edge, not really surprising, given how much thinner it is," Tom explained. "It's also got a 3900mAh battery and technically, it's not their top-end flagship phone, but it's a little bit disappointing."
Judging from our own tests and the latest YouTube video, it seems clear that going super skinny does have one drawback.
If you want a device that's exceptionally thin and light, you won't find anything better than the S25 Edge - just be aware that you might need to carry a battery pack in your bag just in case.
