BENGALURU: A nine-month-old boy from Bengaluru has tested positive for Covid-19, news agency PTI reported.
According to state health officials, the infant, who is in stable condition is currently undergoing treatment at the government-run Vani Vilas Hospital in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru.
The state's Principal Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Harsh Gupta, said the child tested positive through a Rapid Antigen Test conducted on May 22.
Health department sources revealed that the baby, a resident of Hoskote, was initially taken to a private facility before being shifted to the government hospital.
This comes amid a minor uptick in Covid-19 cases in Karnataka . Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao had earlier stated that the state was managing 16 active infections as of May 21.
At the national level, India recorded a total of 257 Covid cases as of May 19. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, though experts say the overall risk remains low.
