Rajkot: In two operations, the special operations groups (SOG) of Kutch and Junagadh police apprehended people with and seized narcotic drugs — heroin and mephedrone — worth Rs 7 lakh.
The Kutch (east) SOG team arrested 54-year-old owner of a highway eatery, Balvinder Singh, a resident of Gurdaspur in Punjab, in the Samakhiali police station jurisdiction. Acting on a tip-off, police had raided his hotel on the national highway near Shikarpur and recovered 12.5g of heroin, valued at Rs 6.25 lakh. A case was registered against him under the NDPS Act at Samakhiyali police station.
In Junagadh, SOG intercepted a 22-year-old man with 4.66g of mephedrone, valued at Rs 46,600. The accused, Tushar Tatamiya, was on way to deliver the drugs. He was booked at B Division police station.
