Varanasi: Two persons, a motorcycle-borne youth and an SUV driver, were killed when both the vehicles collided on Varanasi-Azamgarh highway near Gola village under Cholapur police station late on Sunday night.
Sarnath ACP Atul Anjan Tripathi on Monday said that SUV driver Sunil Gupta (35) of Chandapur and motorcyclist Neeraj Yadav (32) of Gola village suffered were rushed to the community health centre of Cholapur after suffering severe injuries in the accident. However, doctors declared them dead. The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination, the ACP added.
During initial investigation, it came to light that around 12.30am, Gupta was heading to Varanasi from Azamgarh side. His speeding SUV hit Yadav's motorcycle and overturned on the road. On hearing the sound of the collision, locals rushed to the site and alerted police. tnn
