Unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of Bollywood actor Disha Patani in Bareilly on Friday.
The attack occurred near Chaupala Chauraha under Kotwali police station limits, is reportedly linked to recent remarks concerning Premanand, police officials said.
The actor’s father, Jagdish Patani, has filed a formal complaint with the police. Following the incident, the Dhelana brothers, Virendra and Mahendra, have claimed responsibility for the attack.
In response, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has formed five special teams, including units from the Special Operations Group (SOG), to probe the case. An FIR is currently being registered, and authorities are working to determine the full motive and scope of the attack.
