In a heartening move to boost enrollment in a government-run school, villagers of Vadagur in Kolar taluk have implemented a unique initiative. This academic year, a bond of ₹5,000 has been issued in the name of each of the 25 students currently enrolled at the Government Higher Primary School in the village, amounting to a total expenditure of ₹1.25 lakh.
Looking ahead, village leaders have announced that starting from the next academic year, every child admitted to Class 1 will receive a bond worth ₹1,008 as an incentive.
At a time when many government schools are facing closure due to low student turnout, the people of Vadagur are determined to reverse the trend and strengthen their local institution. Through this rare initiative, they hope to encourage more admissions and ensure the school continues to function actively.
Speaking on the occasion, village leader D.L. Nagaraj said, “From the coming academic year, each child enrolling in Class 1 will be given a bond worth ₹1,008. This is part of our broader effort to bring more children into government schools. We also want children to value the hard work of their parents and pursue education with clear goals.”
The program stands as an inspiring example of community-driven support for public education.
