Southern Railway has announced a recruitment drive for 67 positions under the sports quota, where candidates will be selected based solely on their sports achievements and trials.


Details of the Recruitment

The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) of Southern Railway is providing a significant opportunity for youth with sports talent. A notification has been released for the recruitment of 67 posts under the sports quota. This is a unique chance for those who excel in sports and aspire to secure a government job.


Candidates interested in applying can do so until 12 October 2025. The application process is entirely online, and candidates must visit the official Southern Railway website, rrcmas.in, to fill out the application form.


Post Distribution and Qualifications

The recruitment will fill a total of 67 positions across various levels: 5 posts for Level 4 and 5, 16 posts for Level 2 and 3, and 46 posts for Level 1.


For Level 1 positions, candidates must have completed at least the 10th grade or possess an ITI degree. For Level 2 and above, candidates should have completed the 12th grade or higher. Additionally, the age limit is set between 18 and 25 years as of 1 January 2026, meaning applicants must have been born between 2 January 2001 and 1 January 2008.


Selection Process

The selection will be conducted transparently and will focus on sports achievements. There will be no written examination involved. Initially, candidates' sports accomplishments will be assessed, followed by sports trials to evaluate their performance on the field. Those who pass these stages will undergo document verification, and the final merit list will be based solely on trial results and achievements.


Salary and Application Fees

Selected candidates will receive salaries according to the Seventh Pay Commission. For Level 1 positions, the salary will start at Rs 18,000 per month, potentially rising to Rs 29,200 for higher-level posts.


Regarding application fees, general category candidates will need to pay Rs 500, of which Rs 400 will be refunded after the trial. For SC, ST, women, disabled, and ex-serviceman candidates, the fee is set at Rs 250, which will also be fully refunded post-trial. Thus, this recruitment can be considered nearly free for athletes.
