Mumbai, April 19 Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited courtroom drama Kesari: Chapter 2 has finally hit theatres across the globe. Released on Friday, the film has generated significant buzz and managed to rake in ₹2 crore through advance bookings alone, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions banner, the film also features R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday in pivotal roles. With early reviews pouring in and strong audience interest, Kesari: Chapter 2 may well mark a turnaround for Akshay Kumar at the box office.

A Historic Tale That Shook the Empire

Kesari: Chapter 2 is based on the life of barrister C. Sankaran Nair, who boldly challenged the British Empire in court following the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Akshay Kumar essays the role of Nair, while R. Madhavan plays the British lawyer who opposes him in court. Ananya Panday plays the role of Dilreet Gill, a fictional character woven into the narrative.

The film is inspired by the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Its powerful story, rooted in historical truth, has resonated with both critics and audiences alike.
