Mumbai: A bomb threat call to the Mumbai Police main control room created panic after an unidentified caller claimed he was the brother of terrorist Ajmal Kasab and threatened to bomb the control room and the entire Mumbai Police.
About The Phone Call
The call was made to the emergency helpline number 100, following which the police launched an investigation. The probe revealed that the call originated from the Mulund railway station area. Acting swiftly, the police traced and arrested the accused, identified as Piyush Shivnath Shukla (28), a security guard from Thane, originally from Uttar Pradesh.
According to Mulund Police, the threat call was received at the control room helpline number 100 on April 1 at 1:07 AM. A police personnel on duty at booth number 19 answered the call and inquired if the caller needed police assistance. Instead, the caller abused the Mumbai Police and claimed to be Kasab’s brother, threatening to bomb the police control room and the entire force soon. Senior officers were immediately alerted about the threat.
The police traced the mobile number used for the call and found its location in the Mulund area. Investigations revealed that on the night of April 1, the accused had traveled from Thane to Mulund station and was heavily intoxicated. He was sitting on Platform No. 1 when an RPF officer asked him to leave. In anger, he stepped out of the station and made the threat call to the Mumbai Police control room. Further investigation into the case is underway.
