UAE foreign minister calls for Gaza ceasefire, peace talks during meeting with Israel FM

The UAE on April 6 reiterated its call for a during a meeting with Gideon Sa'ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed regional and international efforts to resume a truce agreement, achieve a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFa) stressed the priority of working towards a ceasefire and the release of hostages, as well as the importance of in the Gaza Strip.

In an official statement, MoFa stressed that Sheikh Abdullah also "reiterated the urgent need to advance a serious political horizon for the resumption of negotiations to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution".

The meeting also highlighted the importance of ensuring the safe, sustained, and unhindered delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.

Sheikh Abdullah also called on the international community to intensify efforts to curb extremism, tensions and violence in the region, and to promote shared values of tolerance and coexistence. These, he noted, are essential pillars for building peaceful and stable societies.

The minister also reiterated the nation’s and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, stating that the UAE remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance and backing initiatives that serve the Palestinian people's needs and aspirations.

During the meeting, both leaders also discussed the growing bilateral relations between the two countries.
